To market we go

Aja: it’s another name for Hindu god Shiva, destroyer of evil. Also, of a prince of the Ikshvaku dynasty in Hindu mythology. Aja is an Orisha, the spirit of the forest, the animals within it and herbal healers. She is a patron of the forest and all the animals within it. So with all this powerful meaning behind the name, we felt it was fitting for the latest addition to our ethical, handmade range created using sustainable practices.

Aja sandals

The Aja sandal is a toe-loop slide for all seasons. Handmade in India using traditional practices, in leather that’s vegetable tanned and ethically made, we reckon it’s the perfect sandal to take you through the season as we head into autumn Down Under. That they’re made from leather means they will stretch and mould to your feet for max comfort the more you wear them.

You can find us at Narrabeen Markets, Berry Reserve, tomorrow, Sunday 18 March from 9am-4pm, so come and say hi, try on the Aja sandal (or the Pico, Beatnik, Bluebell or Kali sandals!) and take a pair away in a complimentary reusable saree tote bag.

And that’s not the only free gift you’ll receive, with every purchase you’ll be entered into our competition to win this custom single-fin surfboard created from a blank destined for landfill and shaped by Misfit Shapes.

Come see us at Narrabeen Markets and be in with a chance to win this surfboard!

If you can’t make it to the market tomorrow, head to our shop online and use the coupon code loveocean at checkout for free shipping and an entry to win the surfboard! All Kalai products are made using sustainable practices, the artisans who make them are paid a fair and liveable wage and Kalai supports the continued employment of women in Indian communities to break the cycle of poverty.

We look forward to meeting you!
