For the Love of the Ocean

Would you like to win this custom Misfit single fin? Read on!

Kalai is on the move! We’re road trippin’ from Sydney all the way to sunny Byron Bay for the surfing and sustainability focused Byron Bay Surf Festival. We’re really excited about meeting and learning from like-minded eco-warriors and their businesses, seeing some awesome surfing and rockin’ performances.

There are few better ways to cleanse the soul and calm the spirit than spending time in the big briny blue, more than three million surfers know this. But for a sport that relies on the power and beauty of nature, its eco-footprint is large.

With a fair few million people who love spending time with nature, it’s awesome that festivals like BBSF are working towards protecting it. The aim of the festival is to:

Create a platform that brings together both surfers and those interested in surfing in a celebration of local, national and international surf culture. To showcase, educate and support the surf culture that we love and live, to grow and evolve, and ultimately, to move towards a more sustainable and regenerative industry and lifestyle… and have a good time doing it!

BBSF is a sustainable and plastic-free event, taking place February 22 to 25. Kalai will be at the festival market day, Saturday 24 February, with our gorgeous stall of ethical, sustainable and handmade products.

Come visit us and grab some feelgood bargains (browse our online shop for what you’ll find) and we’ll throw in something extra special, launching at the market for the first time.

Kalai has teamed up with Boomerang Bags to support their message of ditching the plastic in favour of reusable bags. With every purchase of Kalai products or a reusable bag from Boomerang Bags, you’ll be entered into our “For the Love of the Ocean” giveaway to win a one-off custom single fin surfboard, valued at $1200, shaped by Misfit Shapes using an upcycled blank that was destined for landfill, and we’ll chuck in a recycled denim board bag, too. Keep reading for the ways you can enter.

See you there!
